How to Avoid the Hammer Shaft Endplay of Hammer Mill?

The breakage of hammer mill’s hammer head is really a problem for the users. Some experts suggest using high manganese alloy. Then another problem appears, namely the hammer shaft often plays or rotates. Based on several on-site inspections and technological analysis, our engineers find the following main reasons:
2.    Weight of the hammerheads is difference. So in the process of running, it will generate tiny eccentric force and axial force.

The theoretical weight of hammer mill’s hammer head is 50 kg. However, in the actual manufacturing process, certain differences of hammerheads’ weight really exist. A hammer mill has 36 hammer heads which respectively hang on eight hammer shafts. Those hammer shafts are installed on the hammer plate. The hammer head can rotate in 360°.

The exposed part of the hammer shafts shall wear protecting jacket to protect the hammer shaft. The hammer head shall be installed symmetrically based on the weight and along the radial. Weight interpolation of the symmetrical two groups of hammer heads shall be not more than 0.2 LS.

However, in the process of running, attrition of hammer heads cannot be in full accord. So the generated eccentric force and axial force will cause the rotate and play of hammer shaft.

Our engineer studies the problem and gives the following suggestions:
4.    Ensure the weight difference of the hammer heads is not more than 0.5 ton, when purchase the hammer heads. It is necessary to weigh all the hammer heads’ weight before the installation, and then install them based on the required order.
5.    Install one NO.22 location pin on every hammer shaft. The location pin shall pass through the hammer shaft and the protection jacket, to avoid hammer shaft moving.
6.    Make a D shape hole on the outer hammer plate which is on the belt plate, and then fix the hammer shaft by the D shape lump to avoid the rotating of hammer shaft.
