Types of Vibrating Feeders Used in Mining and Quarry Plants
The vibrating feeder is one of the most important pieces of equipment in a mining or aggregate crushing plant.
It ensures that raw materials are fed to crushers or screens continuously, evenly, and efficiently.
Depending on the structure, driving mode, and application, vibrating feeders are divided into several common types — GZD, ZSW, GZT, GZG, GZZ, and GZ series.
Each series has its own design features and suitable working conditions.
GZD series is the most widely used type of vibrating feeder. It is driven by two vibrating motors, which generate linear vibration to move materials along the feeding trough.
Features:
l Simple structure and compact design.
l Stable operation and easy maintenance.
l Adjustable feeding rate by changing motor speed or angle.
l Low noise and energy consumption.
Applications:
l Ideal for medium and small crushing lines.
l Commonly used before secondary crushers such as impact or cone crushers.
l Suitable for materials like granite, basalt, limestone, and construction aggregates.
Typical models: GZD-850×3000, GZD-960×3800, GZD-1100×4200.
The ZSW series is a heavy-duty vibrating feeder driven by an exciter rather than simple vibration motors.
It features a stronger structure and higher capacity, making it perfect for coarse and large materials.
Key characteristics:
l Equipped with a robust shaft exciter, providing stronger vibration force.
l Heavy-duty design for continuous feeding of large-size rocks.
l Optional grizzly bars in the front section to pre-screen fine materials and soil.
l Long service life and reliable performance under harsh conditions.
Applications:
l Commonly installed before jaw crushers in primary crushing sections.
l Used in mining, metallurgy, and large-scale stone crushing plants.
Typical models: ZSW-380×96, ZSW-490×110, ZSW-600×130.
The GZT series uses a vibrator motor or exciter to generate a stable linear motion.
It is designed for medium-hard or slightly abrasive materials, providing a smooth and consistent feeding flow.
Main features:
l Linear vibration, uniform feeding, and adjustable amplitude.
l Compact design, low noise, and less dust generation.
l Capable of working continuously under variable load conditions.
Applications:
l Ideal for medium-capacity crushing lines.
l Often used between the primary and secondary crushing stages.
Typical models: GZT-0932, GZT-1148, GZT-1256.
The GZG series is a high-efficiency, inertial vibrating feeder, driven by twin vibration motors installed symmetrically.
It is structurally similar to GZD but designed for larger capacity and stronger vibration intensity.
Features:
l High feeding capacity and strong vibration force.
l Simple structure and high reliability.
l Can start and stop instantly without material accumulation.
l Minimal maintenance requirements.
Applications:
l Suitable for blocky and granular materials.
l Used in mining, metallurgy, coal, and chemical industries.
Typical models: GZG-100, GZG-125, GZG-200.
The GZZ series, also called Grizzly Feeder, combines feeding and screening in one machine.
The front section is equipped with grizzly bars that allow smaller particles to fall through before reaching the crusher.
Advantages:
l Pre-screening function reduces the load on the primary crusher.
l Heavy-duty structure for large rocks and high-impact loading.
l Efficient removal of soil, dust, and undersized material.
Applications:
l Commonly used before primary jaw crushers in mining or quarry plants.
l Suitable for raw materials containing clay or fine fractions.
Typical models: GZZ-600×1500, GZZ-800×2000, GZZ-1000×2500.
Unlike the mechanical types, the GZ series uses electromagnetic excitation to generate high-frequency micro-vibrations.
It allows precise control of feeding rate by adjusting the electric current, making it ideal for dosing and batching systems.
Main features:
l Continuous or intermittent feeding control.
l Compact structure and small installation space.
l High precision, low energy consumption, and quiet operation.
Applications:
l For fine, powdery, or lightweight materials.
l Widely used in cement, chemical, food, metallurgy, and laboratory applications.
Typical models: GZ1–GZ9 (covering capacities from a few kg/h up to several tons/h).

Each vibrating feeder type serves a specific purpose in the crushing process.
Selecting the right model depends on material size, hardness, moisture, and required capacity.
A well-chosen feeder not only ensures smooth and efficient operation but also extends the service life of downstream crushers and screens — resulting in a more stable and cost-effective production line.
